SeniorNet was founded in 1986 by Dr. Mary Furlong. Dr. Furlong realized that the senior population has a great deal of talent and experience to bring to the table. Her goal was to use technology to create a sense of community for older adults where they could share what they were learning to enhance their lives and the lives of others.

SeniorNet Board of Directors Names New Officers

Announces New 2015 Initiatives

FORT MYERS, Fla.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--The Board of Directors for SeniorNet (www.seniornet.org), the world's leading nonprofit technology educator of older adults, has announced new officers for the 2015-2017 term.

Paul DelPonte, a leading aging advocate was named Chairman. He has been a board member since 2010. DelPonte is currently Commissioner on Aging for Montgomery County, Maryland and an executive with Experience Works. He was instrumental in founding the Alliance for Aging Research as part of his long career as an advocate.

SeniorNet Receives $122,500 "Cy Pres" Award

In 2010, SeniorNet received a "Cy Pres" Award of $122,500, which was part of a $11.5 Million settlement resolving a federal class action, In re ATI Tech. HDCP Litigation, with distribution of $2 Million dollars of funding to fifteen organizations which included SeniorNet.

SeniorNet thanks the nearly four years of hard work and dedication of Los Angeles Attorney David C. Parisi of Parisi & Havens, LLP and New York Attorney Scott A. Kamber of KamberLaw, LLC, who were counsel on this case and selected the organizations to receive the award designated by court order.

This exemplifies the continued visability of SeniorNet as the nation's premier provider of computer education to those in need, both seniors and the underserved.
