Graphics, Avatars and Signature Size Guidelines PDF E-mail
DISCUSSION PHOTOS
You may post photos that are related to the topic in topical discussions on SeniorNet. See our Graphics Policy.

Large photos or other graphics slow down the system on any web page and do not necessarily enhance viewing by being large.

All photos:
May be no larger than a maximum of 500 pixels wide and high.
File sizes should be no larger than 100 KB (100,000 bytes).
Photos should be cropped (delete extraneous sky, walls, surroundings, etc., around the main focus of the photo before you resize it).
Please limit the posting of up to three photos in any one post. Multiple photos in a post slow down the loading of the page for some participants who have slower Internet access connections.

To post photos in the discussion:
Store your photos on a "home page" or photo storage web site.

Use a graphics program to compress the photo (file size less than 100 KB/100,000 bytes)
If you do not have a Home Page area (quite often offered by your ISP) there are several free sites available.

AVATARS & SIGNATURES
If you wish, you may display a photo of yourself or other static (unanimated) grapic in your profile in our SeniorNet Discussions. The size for the avatar space is 65x65 pixels.

You also may include one small static (unanimated) graphic in your signature that displays at the bottom of your messages in the discussions (if you have set a signature in your profile). The graphic may be no larger than 100 pixels wide and 30 pixels high. Also, no moving or flashing text in signatures.  Signature text may be no longer than two lines (including blank lines). You may use formatting (bold, etc) and/or color but do not increase the text size.
