Furthering its effort to bring technology access and education to rural and low-income Native American reservations, the ‘Hope and Harmony for Humanity Initiative’ sponsored by IBM, and including the U.S. Department of the Interior Office of Indian Energy and Economic Development (IEED), the Native American Chamber of Commerce (NACC) and SeniorNet, the nation’s leading technology educator of older adults, announces the grand opening of the Houlton Band of Maliseet Technology Achievement Center on April 24th, 2008. This will be the fourth Native American Achievement Center to be opened since 2006.The Maliseet Achievement Center will offer computer and Internet access, education and training for reservation residents of all ages. The Center will also feature a special program to educate the Maliseet tribal elders, most of whom have never used a computer, on computer skills and applications. SeniorNet members are invited to attend the opening cermonies.
