On January 27, 2009, Madeline Souza passed away unexpectedly but
peacefully, while surrounded by her husband and children. Madeline was
born in Pennsylvania and moved to California in the 1940's with her
parents John and Virginia Scaletta, her sister JoAnne, and her Aunt
Jean. She met her future husband, Bill Souza, while typing his college
term papers. She and Bill married in September 1955 and had three
children, Laurie, John, and Bill. While her children were young,
Madeline was a homemaker, an active member of the St. Joseph the Worker
guild at St. Frances Cabrini, and employed by San Jose Unified School
District. When her children were grown, she worked at the County
Assessor's Office and at CPA firms in Los Gatos. She enjoyed many
trips to the family cabin in Mariposa, CA, as well as bowling and an
occasional visit to the local Indian casinos. Madeline is survived by
her husband of 54 years, Bill; her daughter Laurie Probst(Dave); her
sons John (Jocelyn Stephen) and Bill (Lisa Sneler); her sister JoAnne
Vincenzini (Mark); her aunt Jean Fanelli; and her grandchildren
Brittney, Andy, Alex, Melanie, Stephanie, and last but not least, Meredith. Services will begin Monday, February 2 with visitation after
