On March 20, 2009, the Precious Restaurant parking lot filled early
with the arriving multitude seeking to park anywhere they could.
While not exactly a “multitude” the extra large turnout was for
SeniorNet@FSL Annual Volunteer Luncheon now in its 10th year. The
luncheon provided an excellent venue for novice and veteran volunteers
to meet each other and for spouses to get to know the organization. The
Special Events Committee hosted and organized the event that included a
raffle and special table decorations. (Kudos goes to Nina Smith and her
team).
Volunteers and guests were specially honored to be host to Karen Klafter, Senior Aide to 17th District Legislator Lou D’Amaro. Unfortunately the Legislator was unable to attend due to a family crisis. Karen Klafter presented SeniorNet @ FSL with a Proclamation on behalf of Legislator D’Amaro, congratulating SeniorNet for its many achievements in such area as community outreach programs and attracting new audiences, training older adults with return-to-work skills as well as for its high level of professionalism and superior services.
After a tasty lunch, during which attendees and their guests engaged in lively conversations, Slava Vero and Moss Rawn (SeniorNet @ FSL Co-Coordinators) addressed the gathering, first thanking the volunteers and then discussing the homebound pilot program and plans for an annex in the Town of Brookhaven. Everyone left smiling and full and to paraphrase playwright Neil Simon see you “Same Time Next Year.” Nick Radesca SeniorNet @ FSL, Publicity |
