Roswell SeniorNet Group Helps Make Tax Season Less Painful, More Profitable For Hundreds of Area Households The tax season this year was less painful, and less expensive, for hundreds of Roswell-area households thanks to the generous services offered by the SeniorNet classroom at the Roswell Adult Recreation Center. According to Joyce Mortison, AARP Tax-Aide Local Site Coordinator, the cooperation of Roswell’s SeniorNet group helped AARP Tax-Aide offer free tax assistance to a total of 213 area households, amounting to a savings of $110-$250 for each tax filer. In all, the six AARP tax counselers completed 207 Federal and Georgia State tax returns, plus five amended returns. Ninety-three percent of the returns were e-filed for quicker refunds. Said Ms. Mortison: “In these difficult economic times it is gratifying to be able to help this many households obtain free tax service, and the SeniorNet group once again provided friendly, knowledgeable assistance with very efficient hardware support.” Roger Ignatius, Georgia District I Tax-Aide Technology Coordinator added that “the Roswell SeniorNet facilities and hardware more than met our needs and the classroom hardware was actually better than what is provided by the IRS.” For information on the SeniorNet programs at the Roswell Adult Recreation Center call 770-641-3950 or visit the web site at http://www.roswellseniornet.org/ |
