Good-Neighbor Project Benefits Senior Adults, February 2008 |

A good-neighbor effort by members of the Roswell SeniorNet Learning Center has made it possible for Cherokee County senior adults to take basic computer courses at the Woodstock SeniorNet Learning Center. The Woodstock Learning Center, a satellite of the Roswell Learning Center, is located in the Woodstock Library.
Betty Rice at Woodstock Senior Services contacted Roswell SeniorNet in June 2007 to see if they could assist in getting a learning center started. Betty had tried several different approaches without success in trying to satisfy a rising demand for senior computer classes at the William G. Long Senior Center in Woodstock before seeking the assistance of Roswell.
Roswell member Don Hogan, with the assistance of fellow SeniorNet members George Fuller and Bob Nelson, helped in setting up the new satellite. Elesa Livingston of National SeniorNet and Sue Stephens and Donna Ferguson, both on the Woodstock Library staff, also were involved in the planning.
Two classes, Computers for the Terrified and Computer Fundamentals, are the initial offerings at the new Learning Center. Classes started February 3, 2008. At this time the classes are full and a waiting list for the next session is underway.
