SeniorNet Online is a community of older adults who are interested in exploring the uses of computer and communications technologies to enrich their own lives and contribute to others. SeniorNet values the unique individual contributions that participants in SeniorNet Online make in building our community. SeniorNet does not endorse behavior that is disrespectful of any individuals or groups.

While SeniorNet Online is designed for use by the SeniorNet community of older adults, it is not a "closed" area. SeniorNet Online is open to all who have an interest in the activities and discussions here on our web site. It has been our experience that our community is afforded the opportunity to be enriched by the experiences and perspectives of people of all ages. While SeniorNet depends on the donations and sponsorship of individuals, corporations and foundations, participation on the SeniorNet website does not require paid membership in the SeniorNet organization.

The material provided on the SeniorNet website by SeniorNet, its participants or cooperating organizations is offered with the understanding that neither SeniorNet or other contributors are engaged in rendering financial, legal, medical or other professional services on the SeniorNet Online web site. If expert assistance is required, the services of a competent professional person should be sought.

SeniorNet's discussion area is organized into a number of discussion topics. We ask that you post within the topic of the discussion.

You may not post any defamatory, abusive, baiting, harassing (including personal attacks and "name calling"), obscene, profane, vulgar, sexually explicit, threatening or illegal material, or any material containing blatant expressions of bigotry, racism or hate.

You may not copy the post of another participant from one discussion into another discussion. Individuals participate in the discussions they choose. It's not up to someone else to take another participant's words and post them in other discussions.

You may not negatively characterize the participants or messages in one discussion in another discussion area.

You may not post the content of any personal email sent to you without the author's permission.

You may not "spam" by posting the same message in multiple discussions that are not related to the topic of the post.

You may not collect the email addresses of participants posting in our discussions and "spam" them by sending unsolicited commercial messages.

You may use the SeniorNet Online website only for lawful purposes.

You may not post or transmit any material that violates the rights of others, infringes a person's intellectual property rights (such as copyrights, patents, or trademarks), or is otherwise unlawful or encourages unlawful activity.

Posting or transmission of any material that violates any federal, state, or local law or regulation is prohibited. SeniorNet reserves the right to disclose information regarding your use of the SeniorNet Online website to satisfy laws, regulations or governmental requests.

Participants may not post commercial messages or sell or barter items or services in the SeniorNet discussion boards. You also may not solicit funds for charities that are not part of a SeniorNet program.
SeniorNet reserves the right in our sole discretion (but is not obligated) to review and delete or refuse to post any material submitted for display or placed on the SeniorNet website, including discussion boards and chat rooms.

Material placed online by participants does not necessarily reflect the views of SeniorNet.

SeniorNet's policies are monitored and implemented by SeniorNet staff with the support of volunteers who are designated as official SeniorNet Hosts or Discussion Leaders.
