|SeniorNet Celebrates Our Volunteers, December 2007|
We celebrate our volunteers for all that they do to implement SeniorNet's mission to support individuals age 50 and older to use computer technologies to enrich their lives and make a difference in society. The volunteers who received the 2007 Chairman's Award embody the excellent skills, talent and dedication that are represented in SeniorNet's more than 4,000 volunteers.
Recently the SeniorNet Learning Center in Huntington NY was presented their $1,000 Chairman's Award funds by SeniorNet Executive Director Kristin Fabos.
Previous coordinator Fred Atkin and current Learning Center coordinator Slava Vero accept award check from Kristin Fabos.
The SeniorNet Chairman's Award for website program was given to team of SeniorNet volunteers for their creation and implementation of SeniorNet's Book Donation Initiative, to donate new and gently used books to make a difference in the lives of others. The initiative currently consists of two projects: the Prison Library Project (PLP) and the Native American Children's Book project (NACBP). These volunteers are using part of their $1,000 award to make the holidays more joyous by sending books and book gift certificates to libraries in two prison systems and youth programs in the three reservations where SeniorNet has helped to establish Achievement Centers.
