File Explorer Workshops

File Explorer, formerly known as Windows Explorer, has been a core element of the Windows operating system for decades. Like most of the new Windows 10 operating system, it's been given a noticeable overhaul. There are plenty of new tools to get acclimated with and plenty of ways to manage and organize all your files and folders.

Here are two SeniorNet workshops on the New File Explorer...

Contact your Center Leaders for more information and scheduling.

Getting to Know File Explorer - Part 1

File Explorer in Windows 10 is the structure of your computer where you can find and manage whatever you're looking for. In this SeniorNet workshop, you will learn about the structure of File Explorer and how managing your computer starts here.

Working with File Explorer - Part 2

In this SeniorNet workshop, we show you how to work with the files and folders using File Explorer. These easy and efficient methods take you through all the basic file tasks, including how to view, select, copy, move, and rename files. You also learn how to delete files, how to restore accidentally deleted files and the simple task of backing up your files.

Hurricane Irma (9-6-2017) PDF Email

SeniorNet Family,

As you are aware, we (SeniorNet Headquarters) are bracing for the "record breaking hurricane Irma"....who at this time is projected to strike this coming weekend.

It is clear that no matter where it strikes...Florida will be impacted.

Significant anxiety and panic has been generated especially after seeing the damage already caused by this hurricane in the Atlantic Islands.

To this end, the office building that houses our Headquarters in Fort Myers, Fl, as well as many other locations in Florida are boarding up and closing down.

We hope to be up and operational by the latter part of next week...we will keep you posted.

Thank you for your well wishes.

Netherlands (6/27/2017) PDF Email

Netherlands

Recently I received an email from the Netherlands saying..."Maybe you don't know this, but 20 years ago, our SeniorWeb in The Netherlands was founded after your example ! So it would be great to compare."...after research, we found the following...

SeniorWeb Netherlands is a non-profit association which runs the most popular community platform for seniors in the Netherlands. Its mission is to familiarize those generations with computers and the Internet who have not had the chance to grow up with them. An important premise is that this should be done for and by seniors. SeniorWeb, starting in 1997, has developed a well-functioning network of highly motivated and enthusiastic volunteers. SeniorWeb has a rich experience with elderly people, enabling it to develop new products and services for this target group.

We welcomed SeniorWeb's visit with open arms. Willows SeniorNet Center in San Jose, CA hosted the visit with Ingrid Kock, Manager PCHulp en Leercentra, SeniorWeb. This meeting was extremely beneficial for all of us. Both made presentations, lots of idea - sharing and benchmarking of best practices.

Thanks to our founder Mary Furlong for her vision, to the Willows SeniorNet Team for their leadership and - a "welcome back" to SeniorWeb for future visits to other SeniorNet Centers in the United States.
